New · the Briù prototype
Espresso,
wherever
you are.
A real espresso from a machine that fits in your bag. Heater, pump and battery are all inside: drop in a pod, press one button, and Briù takes it from there.

Ready to brew in
~7 min*
Smaller, faster,
simpler. And open.
Everything we learned from the first Sorso prototype, rebuilt around four ideas.
01
73 × 176 mm*
Compact by design
A complete espresso system (heater, pump and battery) in a 73 mm cylinder that slips into a backpack or a bike bag.*
02
1 button
Simple by nature
One button runs everything: double-click to heat, press and hold to brew. RGB lights show what Briù is doing, so there’s nothing to guess.
03
~7 min*
Faster than before
A new power and heating system cuts warm-up time by more than half: from cold water to brewing temperature in about 7 minutes.*
04
3D printable
Open by design
Every part is designed to be 3D printed, taken apart, repaired or reimagined, and shared through an open component library (coming soon).

Compact dimensions
Small.
Really small.
Briù was designed around one rule: take up as little space as possible.
The cylindrical body fits a backpack, a bike bag or a desk drawer, and still makes a real espresso.*

User experience
One click.
That’s it.
No hand pumping, no settings to learn. Pod in, water in, one button. Briù handles the rest.
New heating system
Less waiting.
More coffee.
We redesigned the power system and the way Briù heats water. The result: brewing temperature in less than half the time of the first Sorso prototype.*

Intuitive interface
One button.
A few lights.
No screens, no menus. A single physical button runs the whole ritual, while RGB lights give clear feedback as Briù heats and brews.

Made to be
yours.
Briù is being developed as an open, modular project. It’s not just a machine to use, but one to explore, understand, modify and, one day, build yourself.

Inside Briù
Main features.
Prototype configuration. Specs may change during development.
01
Water heating
Heats the water to extraction temperature on its own. No kettle, no thermos.
02
Battery powered
A 3000 mAh battery runs heating and extraction, so you don’t need a socket. The compartment fits higher-capacity cells.
03
ESE pods
Built around ESE, the paper pod standard sold by many roasters. Clean to use, easy to switch blends.
04
Easy to disassemble
Separate modules come apart for cleaning, maintenance and replacement.
05
USB-C charging
Recharges through USB-C with a standard power supply.
06
Intuitive interface
One physical button and RGB status lights. Nothing to configure.
From Sorso to Briù
It started as
a design project.

01
Sorso
A design thesis: an open, modular espresso machine imagined with a community of makers.
02
First prototype
Hand-built electronics, a 3D-printed body and the first working shots.
03
Briù
Smaller, faster, simpler: a new power system, one button and an integrated battery.
04
What’s next
Testing, refining and opening the component library.
FAQ
Good
questions.
Briù is still a prototype, so here’s an honest picture of what it is today and what comes next.
Can I buy Briù?
Not yet. Briù is a working prototype that we are testing and refining. Subscribe and you’ll be the first to know when it becomes available.
Which coffee does it use?
ESE pods (Easy Serving Espresso): the standard paper pod sold by many roasters. No grinder, no mess, easy to change blend.
How long until my espresso?
About 7 minutes to reach brewing temperature, then press and hold the button to brew.*
How do I charge it?
Through USB-C with a standard power supply. While brewing it runs on its own battery, so you don’t need a socket.
Is it really open?
That’s the direction: components are designed to be printed, modified and repaired. Files and licence will be published with the component library.
